About the Department of the Environment
The Department of the Environment plays a central role in environmental protection, stewardship, and regulatory action in Belize, supporting sustainable development and the preservation of natural resources.
The Department of the Environment functions with full autonomy to enforce the Environmental Protection Act, with broad authority for the prevention and control of environmental pollution and the conservation and management of Belize’s natural resources.
Through the anti-littering campaign and related public education efforts, the DOE promotes civic responsibility, environmental awareness, and practical action to help protect Belize for present and future generations.
